Te Mīhana Māori - Rev'd Shona Pink-Martin

Rev’d Shona Pink-Martin (MTheol Hons)

Kaimihana | Missioner (Priest in Charge)

(Te Aupouri, Te Rarawa, Muri Whenua), the first Maori woman Missioner, is the grand-niece of the first Missioner, the Venerable Sir Kīngi Īhaka.

The eldest of five, she travelled the world with the Pink-family proclaiming the gospel through music, song and kapahaka. With a background in broadcasting, Shona longs to see a flourishing generation of Christian believers, culturally relevant to Maori and unashamedly devoted to Jesus in loving service through the saving knowledge and life-transforming power of the Gospel.

Married to Adam for 30-years, they are across numerous aspects of local, national and international Church life. Together they have two sons, daughters-in-law and five grandchildren.

Deanna brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Administrative and Management roles within an office. Managing their own real estate team in Brisbane, Australia as a successful Sales Agent alongside her husband Rob Karaka. Since moving back to New Zealand in 2020, after living in Brisbane for 26.5 years, with her whānau and two beautiful daughters, Ayanna 17yrs old and Tishani 15yrs, Deanna joined our team in 2023 and has taken on the role as Office Administrator with her happy, bubbly and friendly demeanour. She looks after all our enquiries, bookings, maintenance issues, accounts and assists our Priest-in-Charge when the need arises. If you have any enquiries about Te Ana Tapu or Tātai Hono Marae, Deanna is the person to contact to help you as best she can.

Passionate about technology and media, Rev’d Scott leads up our communications across the Te Mīhana Māori platforms. From the e-news to socials, you’ll be sure to find his photos, event invitations, and updates on all that’s happening in the life and mission of Te Mīhana. Outside of his comms role, Scott is a deacon for the church – supporting our community outreach with a particular heart for social justice, rangatahi, and hospitality. With a background in Māori community health, Scott is also passionate about seeing how we as a community can holistically support the hauora (well-being) of all we encounter at Te Mīhana Māori.

Married to the wonderful Naomi, and with their four beautiful girls Isabella, Hanaia, Manawa-ora, and Aamalia – we are grateful for Paul’s support in leading our sung worship. Paul is passionate about exploring the whakapapa of hīmene Mihingare, seeking to understand their origin and progression. Using this whakapapa lens, Paul is on a journey to help lead Te Mīhana in finding a new sound for of our collective worship – in this era and among this generation. Embracing our whakapapa, but also seeking the spirit’s guidance as to how we may need to be more dynamic/contemporary in some ways. We are excited to be a part of this harenga and grateful for Paul’s leadership.
